The artisans in the Krobo region of Ghana create these stunning beads using small-sized seed glass beads that are fused together to form larger, unique beads. Unlike the more common translucent beads, these fused beads have a distinct, opaque appearance with vibrant colors and intricate patterns.

The process begins with the collection of tiny seed glass beads. These beads are carefully arranged in clay molds that determine the shape and size of the final product. The molds are then placed in a kiln and fired at high temperatures, causing the small beads to fuse together into larger, solid beads. After cooling, the beads are removed from the molds and polished to smooth out any rough edges.

Krobo beads are renowned for their cultural significance in Ghanaian society, often used in ceremonies and as symbols of status and identity. The intricate craftsmanship and the use of recycled materials make these beads not only beautiful but also eco-friendly.
