Collection: Ewe Kente Cloths

Ewe Kente (  Ghana - Volta Region ) is a Ceremonial cloth that is hand woven on a horizontal treadle loom.

The strips are sewn together into larger pieces of cloths.

It takes from several weeks to months for a weaver to complete a cloth like this depending of the design and size !

Kente is more than just a cloth but is a visual representation of history, ethics , oral literature , philosophy , moral values and religious beliefs.

The Kente cloths history goes back to the 17th Century.

In present days is still used as a cloth in Ghana but is also used by collectors of fine woven cloths and artifacts as Wall hanging , sofa or bed covering !
