These exquisite beads are crafted by talented artisans in the Krobo region of Ghana. The unique technique used involves recycling small glass seed beads. These beads are meticulously placed into clay molds that determine the shape and size of the final product. The molds are then fired in a kiln at high temperatures, fusing the small beads together into larger, solid beads. This process results in stunning, opaque beads with vibrant colors and intricate patterns.
The Krobo people have perfected this art, creating beads that are not only beautiful but also hold significant cultural value. These beads are often used in ceremonies and as symbols of status and identity in Ghanaian society.
