Rainbow Glass Beaded Choker – Handmade African Trade Jewelry

This joyful beaded necklace bursts with color and charm. Handmade by Krobo artisans in Ghana, it features small, flower-inspired powder glass beads in a lively rainbow of hues, from sunshine yellow and tropical green to ocean blue, fiery red, deep black, and pure white. The necklace is finished on memory wire with a stainless steel clasp, ensuring both comfort and durability while maintaining its vibrant style.

  • Necklace length: 18 3/4" (47.5 cm)
  • Bead size: approx. 9 mm diameter
  • Materials: Recycled glass beads, stainless steel clasp & memory wire

YOUR NECKLACE WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE ONE SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE IS COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

About the Colors

The beads are a cheerful mix of translucent and opaque tones, bright lemon yellow, emerald green, cobalt and sky blue, ruby red, crisp white, and inky black. The variation in hues gives the necklace a lively, almost candy-like appeal, perfect for adding a splash of color to any outfit.

Traditional Craftsmanship

These Krobo glass beads are made from recycled glass bottles, crushed into a fine powder, and placed into molds before being fired in a traditional firewood kiln. This process, practiced for generations in Ghana’s Krobo region, allows for creative blends of color and unique bead shapes.

Inspired by vintage Bohemian and Czech flower glass trade beads, this necklace blends historical influence with African artisanal skill, preserving both heritage and beauty in a single piece.

Cultural Significance

Trade beads like these have traveled across continents for centuries, serving as decorative art, a form of currency, and a means of cultural exchange. Wearing this choker connects you to that rich global history while supporting traditional craftsmanship in West Africa.
