These exquisite beads are produced using a unique technique that involves fusing smaller glass beads to form larger, more intricate beads. The process used by the people of Krobo is meticulous and showcases their exceptional craftsmanship.

The creation process in Krobo involves several steps:

  • Collection and Preparation: Small glass beads are collected and cleaned. These are then sorted and prepared for molding.
  • Molding: The small glass beads are placed into clay molds that determine the shape and size of the final beads.
  • Firing: The molds with the glass beads are placed in a kiln and fired at high temperatures. This fuses the small beads together to form larger beads with unique textures and appearances.
  • Finishing: Once cooled, the beads are removed from the molds and often polished or refined to smooth out any rough edges.

These fused beads are notable for their vibrant colors and intricate patterns. They hold cultural significance in Ghanaian society, often used in ceremonies and as symbols of status and identity.
