History & Value
These authentic Old Venetian drawn glass beads also called Venetian seed beads or conteria beads were made in Venice and widely used in African trade from the early to mid‑1900s. Each tiny bead was stretched and drawn from molten glass, cut to uniform size, and polished, often by skilled artisans in Venice’s glassmaking districts.

How They Were Made
Traditional Venetian glassmakers heated a rod of glass until molten, then pulled it into a long, slender “drawn” tube.
