Millefiori beads, also known as mosaic beads, are crafted using a meticulous technique that originated in Venice, Italy. This process involves layering glass rods of different colors, creating intricate patterns that are revealed when the rods are cut into cross-sections. These beads were highly prized in African trade, especially in Ghana, where they were used for both decorative and ceremonial purposes. Their vibrant colors and detailed designs made them a valuable commodity, symbolizing wealth and status.
