About Baule Cloths

Baule textiles, also known as Baule cloths or Ivory Coast African artisan textiles, are handwoven by skilled craftspersons of the Baule ethnic group. Using fine cotton fibers, each narrow loom-woven strip is carefully sewn together to form larger pieces. The process can take days or weeks, reflecting a deep cultural heritage upheld by generations.

Distinctive symbols adorn many Baule cloths geometric patterns, mythological motifs, and nature-inspired designs each carrying meaning connected to life cycles, spirituality, social status, or community values.

Historically, Baule cloths were worn during ceremonies, used as wrapping cloths, and exchanged as important ceremonial gifts. Over time, these cloths also became symbols of identity and pride in Baule culture. Today, they serve both functional and decorative roles, treasured as collector’s items and displayed as art.

TribalGH is proud to offer this exquisite piece, celebrating Baule weaving tradition and craftsmanship from Ivory Coast. Own a slice of West African heritage!
