These eco-friendly beads are made from powdered glass, a sustainable material derived from recycled bottles and other discarded glass items. Once powdered, the glass is poured into molds to create the bead shapes, then intricately decorated by hand.
Decoration Process: What sets these beads apart is their detailed decoration. Artisans use a blend of powdered glass, natural dyes, and etching techniques to create vibrant, eye-catching designs. Using traditional tools such as wooden or metal instruments, they paint or engrave intricate motifs onto each bead, ensuring no two beads are exactly alike.
Firing Process: After decoration, the beads are fired in a kiln. The high heat fuses the powdered glass, setting the designs permanently. This process gives the beads their durable, smooth finish and brilliant colors, making them perfect for jewelry-making or display.
Handmade by the Krobo people, these beads honor Ghana’s rich history of African trade beads, symbols of culture, tradition, and artistry.
YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).
