  • Strand Length: 26.5 inches (67 cm)
  • Bead Size: 10-17 mm in diameter
  • Materials: Recycled glass and brass
  • Origin: Krobo and Ashanti regions, Ghana

The Krobo glass beads are created from recycled bottles and discarded glass, ground into powder, and carefully poured into hand-carved clay molds. These molds are fired in traditional kilns, giving birth to richly textured and colorful beads, reflecting the resourcefulness and creativity of the Krobo people.

The brass beads are handcrafted in the Ashanti region of Ghana, notably in Kumasi, using the time-honored Lost Wax Casting technique. Each bead begins as a wax model which is encased in clay. When fired, the wax melts away, leaving a cavity that is filled with molten brass. The mold is destroyed to release the final bead, ensuring each piece is one-of-a-kind.

These recycled glass and brass beads are more than just decorative they are part of Ghana’s rich legacy of African trade beads. Used for centuries as a form of currency and cultural expression, trade beads continue to hold deep significance throughout Africa and beyond.

Each bead on this strand tells a story of sustainability, skilled craftsmanship, and cultural pride.
