These exquisite beads are made using a unique fused glass technique developed by the Krobo people of Ghana. Small glass beads are meticulously cleaned and placed into clay molds that define the shape and size of each larger bead. The molds are fired in a kiln at high temperatures, fusing the small beads together to form larger, solid beads. This process results in beads with vibrant colors and intricate patterns, though they are not translucent.

The creation of Krobo beads is not just an artistic endeavor but also a cultural one, with these beads holding significant value in Ghanaian society. They are often used in ceremonies and serve as symbols of status and identity.
