These unique beads are made by the skilled artisans in the Krobo region of Ghana using small recycled glass beads as raw material. The process involves carefully placing the tiny glass beads into clay molds, which determine the shape and size of the final product. These molds are then fired in a kiln at high temperatures, causing the small beads to fuse together, forming larger beads with a vibrant and opaque finish.
Notable for their vibrant colors and intricate patterns, Krobo beads hold significant cultural value in Ghanaian society, often used in ceremonies and as symbols of status and identity.
