Each glass bead is crafted by the skilled artisans of the Krobo people in Ghana. They employ a time-honored method of crushing recycled glass and bottles into a fine powder, which is then placed into molds and fired in a wood-fired kiln. This process not only breathes new life into discarded materials but also results in stunning, eco-friendly beads that are rich in history and character.

The brass beads are created using the ancient lost wax casting technique, a specialty of the Ashanti/Akan people. In this method, a detailed wax model is made and encased in clay. Once the clay is heated and the wax melts away, molten brass is poured into the cavity left behind, forming intricate and unique designs. This labor-intensive process ensures that each brass bead is a work of art, reflecting the rich metallurgical traditions of West Africa.

Trade beads have played a significant role in African history, serving not only as currency but also as symbols of wealth, status, and cultural identity. Wearing this necklace connects you to a lineage of artisanship and trade that spans centuries, celebrating the resilience and creativity of African communities.
