Introducing our beautiful strand of African trade beads, handmade by the skilled artisans of Kroboland in Ghana, West Africa. These Krobo glass beads are meticulously crafted to imitate the old Venetian glass trade beads, providing a touch of history and culture to your collection.

Size of the Strand:

  • Length: Approximately 24 1/4" (61.5 cm)
  • Bead Diameter: Approximately 13 - 14 mm

These recycled glass beads are made from bottles and other glass items, which are crushed into a fine powder and then molded into these stunning beads. The entire process is carried out by hand, ensuring each bead is unique and of the highest quality.

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

The technique used by the people of Krobo to produce these beads is both fascinating and environmentally friendly. By recycling glass bottles and items, they create beautiful, sustainable beads that are rich in tradition. The importance of trade beads in Ghana and Africa cannot be overstated, as they have been used for centuries as a form of currency, in ceremonies, and as decorative items.
