African Beaded Bracelet - Handmade Krobo Glass Beads

Discover the beauty of authentic African craftsmanship with this stunning beaded bracelet, handmade by the artisans of Kroboland in Ghana, West Africa. Each bead is meticulously crafted to resemble old Venetian fancy glass trade beads, adding a touch of history and tradition to your style.

  • Bracelet Size (Unstretched): 6 3/4" (17 cm)
  • Comfortable Fit Wrist Size: Up to 8" (21 cm)
  • Bead Size: 10 - 11 mm in diameter

Strung on a durable elastic stretch cord, this beaded bracelet easily slips onto your wrist for a comfortable and secure fit. The vibrant beads are made from recycled glass bottles and other materials, finely crushed into powder, placed into molds, and then fired in a traditional firewood kiln.

YOUR BRACELET WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

The Art of Krobo Beadmaking & Trade Beads

The Krobo people of Ghana have perfected the art of beadmaking using centuries-old techniques. The process begins with crushing recycled glass into a fine powder, which is then carefully placed into clay molds. The molds are fired in a firewood kiln, melting the glass to form vibrant and durable beads. These unique beads are then hand-painted and fired again to ensure lasting color and detail.

Trade beads have played a significant role in African history, serving as currency and symbols of wealth, status, and cultural exchange. Today, they continue to be cherished for their beauty and historical significance.
