- Strand Length: 26 1/2" (67.5 cm)
- Bead Size: 12-20 mm
Each bead is carefully handmade using recycled glass bottles and other discarded glassware. The glass is crushed into a fine powder and then meticulously poured into hand-carved clay molds. Using traditional techniques passed down through generations, the beads are fired in outdoor kilns, resulting in vibrant, one-of-a-kind creations that reflect Ghana’s rich heritage of glass bead making.
These African trade beads hold deep cultural value across the continent and are used not only for adornment but also in rituals, ceremonies, and as symbols of status. Krobo glass beads in particular have become iconic, valued both locally and internationally for their beauty and craftsmanship.
Each strand from TribalGH is a celebration of sustainability, tradition, and artistry deal for collectors, jewelry designers, and anyone who values authentic African-made crafts.
About Krobo Beadmaking
In the Krobo region of Ghana, artisans transform recycled materials into timeless treasures. The process starts with grinding discarded glass into fine powder. The powder is dyed using natural pigments, poured into molds, and heated in clay kilns. After cooling, each bead is polished by hand. This eco-conscious technique preserves both heritage and the environment, offering you a bead with soul and story.
