Recycled Glass Bead Making in Krobo

In Krobo land, artisans collect discarded glass bottles and grind them into fine powder. This powder is poured into hand-carved clay molds, often using leaves to create decorative holes. The molds are then fired in kilns made of termite clay. Once cooled, the beads are hand-polished using sand, water, and stones to bring out their stunning finish. This process represents not only craftsmanship but a deep respect for recycling and sustainability.

Lost Wax Brass Bead Making in Ashanti

The brass beads are made in the Ashanti region using the ancient lost wax technique. A wax model is crafted for each bead, encased in clay to form a mold. Once heated, the wax melts away, leaving a cavity that is filled with molten brass. After cooling, the mold is broken to reveal a unique bead. This labor-intensive process ensures that each brass bead is a one-of-a-kind work of art.
