Introducing a beautiful strand of NEW African trade beads, meticulously handcrafted from recycled fused glass by the talented artisans of Kroboland in Ghana, West Africa. These stunning beads are made using tiny seed glass beads, resulting in vibrant, opaque beads that are as unique as they are eco-friendly.

  • Strand Length: 22 1/2" (57 cm) long
  • Bead Size: 10 - 11 mm in diameter

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

These beads are crafted using an intricate process perfected by the Krobo people. The journey begins with the collection and preparation of small seed glass beads, which are meticulously cleaned. These small beads are then placed into clay molds, which determine the shape and size of each larger bead. The molds are fired in a kiln at high temperatures, fusing the small glass beads together into larger, opaque beads. After cooling, the beads are carefully removed from the molds and polished to smooth out any rough edges, resulting in vibrant, intricate patterns that are truly one-of-a-kind.

Krobo beads hold significant cultural importance in Ghanaian society, often used in ceremonies and as symbols of status and identity. Their vibrant colors and unique patterns make them a cherished part of African heritage and a beautiful addition to any jewelry collection.
