These Krobo recycled glass beads are made using an extraordinary traditional technique. In this process, tiny seed glass fragments from recycled bottles and other sources are meticulously cleaned and prepared. Artisans arrange the fragments into clay molds, where they are fired in kilns at high temperatures. This fuses the glass into distinctive, translucent beads while maintaining the variegated textures and colors of the original material.

For centuries, African trade beads have been a symbol of cultural identity and status across the region. These beads continue to play a significant role in Ghanaian ceremonies, storytelling, and personal adornment, offering a connection to a rich cultural heritage.
