Authentic Fancy Krobo Powder Glass Beads, Ghana African Trade Beads

Authentic Fancy Krobo Powder Glass Beads, Ghana African Trade Beads

Experience the beauty and craftsmanship of authentic powder glass beads, handmade in Kroboland, Ghana, West Africa. This strand of beads is inspired by the intricate designs of old Venetian fancy trade beads, offering a vibrant and colorful piece of history.

  • Strand Length: Approximately 25" (63.5 cm) of beads
  • Bead Size: 12-13 mm in diameter

Each bead is skillfully crafted from recycled glass bottles and other glass items. These materials are crushed into powder, placed into molds, and fired to form unique and beautiful beads. The entire process is 100% handmade, ensuring that each strand is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

Decoration Process

What sets these fancy beads apart is their intricate decoration. Talented artisans in Kroboland use crushed glass fragments, natural dyes, and powdered glass to create vibrant patterns and detailed motifs. Tools such as wooden or metal etchers are used to enhance the design, making each bead a tiny work of art.

Firing Process

After decoration, the beads are carefully fired in traditional kilns. The high heat fuses the powdered glass and seals the intricate designs, giving the beads their stunning, durable finish.

About the Krobo Tradition

Krobo beads have a rich history in African trade and culture. They are cherished not only for their aesthetic value but also for their symbolic meanings in celebrations, rituals, and storytelling. The Krobo artisans uphold this heritage, combining ancient techniques with modern creativity to craft beads that are both timeless and unique.

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).
