Each bead tells a story crafted with care and tradition. The glass beads originate from Kroboland, where discarded glass bottles and other materials are crushed into a fine powder. This powder is then poured into handmade clay molds, colored with natural dyes, and baked in outdoor kilns. The result? Bold, translucent beads with a signature matte finish.
The brass beads, made in the Ashanti region of Kumasi, are created using the ancient lost wax technique. Each mold is made from beeswax and encased in clay. When fired, the wax melts away, leaving a cavity into which molten brass is poured. Once cooled, the mold is broken to reveal a one-of-a-kind brass bead. This means every single brass bead is uniquely handcrafted.
These Ghana glass and brass beads not only reflect exquisite craftsmanship but also hold cultural significance. African trade beads have long been used for currency, adornment, and storytelling across the continent. Today, they remain a symbol of heritage, identity, and artistic excellence.
