African Fancy Powder Glass Beads - 27" Strand, Handmade in Ghana
Immerse yourself in the beauty of African craftsmanship with this exquisite 27" (69 cm) strand of powder glass beads, handmade in Kroboland, Ghana. These beads are inspired by the intricate designs of old Venetian fancy trade beads, blending tradition and artistry into each piece.
Specifications:
- Length: 27 inches (69 cm)
- Bead Size: Approximately 7 mm in diameter
- Material: Recycled glass bottles and items
Every bead is meticulously handcrafted by skilled Krobo artisans using eco-friendly practices. Bottles and other discarded glass materials are crushed into a fine powder, carefully poured into molds, and fired in kilns to create these stunning beads.
Decoration:
What sets these fancy powder glass beads apart is the elaborate decoration process. The artisans employ crushed glass fragments, powdered pigments, and natural dyes to craft intricate patterns. Using traditional tools made from wood or metal, detailed motifs are etched or painted onto the beads, resulting in vibrant and timeless designs.
Firing:
Once decorated, the beads undergo a high-temperature firing process. This fuses the powdered glass and solidifies the designs, ensuring durability and a smooth finish. The result is a breathtaking array of beads that celebrate African heritage and artistry.
Krobo beads are not just beautiful—they carry cultural significance, having been used in trade across Africa for centuries. Today, they remain a symbol of history, creativity, and sustainability.
YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).
