African Recycled Krobo Glass Disk Beads - 24" Strand, Handmade
Discover the artistry of Kroboland with these handmade recycled powder glass disk beads. Crafted by the talented bead makers of Krobo, Ghana, these beautiful beads are inspired by old Venetian trade bead designs and showcase the timeless beauty of African craftsmanship.
- Strand length: Approximately 24" (61 cm)
- Bead size: 14-15 mm in diameter
Each bead is meticulously crafted using recycled glass bottles and other discarded glass materials. The glass is crushed into a fine powder, carefully poured into molds, and fired in a traditional kiln to create these vibrant, eco-friendly beads. The entire process is done by hand, ensuring that every bead is unique.
The Krobo people of Ghana are celebrated for their bead-making tradition, which has been passed down through generations. Trade beads have played a vital role in African history, serving as currency, adornment, and symbols of identity and status. Today, these beads continue to connect us to this rich cultural legacy.
YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).
