These recycled glass beads are made using a centuries-old technique native to Ghana. Locals crush discarded glass bottles and items into a fine powder. The powder is poured into handmade clay molds, often coated with natural dyes and pigments. A cassava-leaf stem is placed to create the bead hole before firing in a kiln made of termite clay. The result? Durable, eco-friendly, and beautiful beads with deep cultural value.
The strand imitates vintage Venetian designs, honoring the era of historical trade beads which were once currency and a symbol of wealth and connection across the African continent. Today, these beads carry stories of sustainability, tradition, and creative spirit, proudly handcrafted in the heart of West Africa.
