Venetian lampwork beads, also known as wound glass beads, were meticulously hand-crafted by artisans in Venice using ancient glass-making techniques. The glass was heated and carefully wound around a mandrel to form the bead, with intricate decorations applied using molten glass trails. These beads hold immense historical value, as they were not only art pieces but also played a key role in trade across Africa, particularly in Ghana, where they were exchanged for goods and used in social ceremonies.
