Discover a unique set of antique Carnelian beads and antique Agate beads from the historic Cambay, India - finely carved into triangular and heart forms. These five trade beads/pendants, referenced in Robert K. Liu's Collectible Beads (p. 39), date back to the 1800s (or earlier), and show gentle surface wear and minimal chipping, typical for well-used trade beads of this age.

The rich red-orange Carnelian and smoky grey Agate display their natural vibrancy through hand-drilled perforations (1–1.5 mm), ready to be strung into necklaces, bracelets, or cultural displays. Worn and loved, they emit a warm patina unique to Antique Carnelian trade beads.

About Cambay Agate & Carnelian Trade Beads

Cambay (Gujarat, India) was a prominent centre for stone bead carving and trade bead production. Craftspeople hand-drilled and shaped each bead using traditional rotary tools and abrasives. These Agate trade beads and Carnelian trade beads were shipped across Africa, often reaching Ghana, where they played a vital role in regional exchange and adornment.

In West Africa, Antique Agate beads empowered local economies and became woven into cultural identity—valued not only for their beauty but also for their role as commodity and art. Today, TribalGH honors this legacy by celebrating trade beads as historic art forms and these Cambay stones are a direct link to that rich heritage.
