History, Production & Value
These Conteria drawn trade beads, commonly called Venetian seed beads, were crafted in Venice and widely used in African trade from the early‑ to mid‑1900s. Made by skilled Venetian bead‑makers, each tiny glass bead was pulled from molten glass rods by hand, then sliced into uniform 2 mm rounds a delicate drawn‑bead technique that requires precision and tradition.
