Crafting Process
The process begins with collecting and preparing recycled glass materials. These are broken into fragments, then placed into molds made of clay. The molds are fired in a kiln at high temperatures, fusing the glass fragments into vibrant, translucent beads. Once cooled, the beads are polished to smooth any rough edges, creating their unique look and feel.
Krobo beads hold a rich cultural significance in Ghanaian society, often used in ceremonies and as symbols of status and identity. These recycled beads continue this heritage while promoting sustainable practices.
