Experience the vibrant artistry of Kroboland with our stunning strand of NEW powder glass African beads. Crafted meticulously by the skilled artisans of Kroboland in Ghana, West Africa, these beads beautifully imitate the classic Venetian EYE trade beads, adding a touch of history and elegance to any jewelry collection.

  • Strand Length: Approximately 25" (64 cm)
  • Bead Size: Approximately 9 mm in diameter

Each bead is handcrafted from recycled bottles and other glass items, ground into powder, and then molded to create these exquisite beads. The entire process ensures that no two beads are exactly alike, adding to the unique charm and authenticity of each strand.

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

Decoration: What sets fancy Krobo beads apart is their detailed decoration process. Artisans use a combination of glass fragments, powdered glass, and natural dyes to create intricate patterns and vibrant designs. They may use metal or wooden tools to etch or paint detailed motifs onto the beads.

Firing: Once decorated, the beads are fired in a kiln. The high temperatures fuse the glass powder and set the designs in place, giving the beads their final, durable form.

The traditional bead-making technique in Kroboland is a testament to the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of the Krobo people. These fancy glass beads are not just beautiful ornaments but also carry the legacy of African trade beads, which have been integral to trade and cultural exchange in Ghana and across Africa for centuries.
