The combination is both playful and regal, creating a piece that stands out whether worn casually or for a special occasion.

  • Bead sizes: 13–15 mm diameter (glass beads)
  • Large brass bead size: approx. 26 x 13 mm

About the Colors

The translucent beads display a vibrant mix of golden yellow, earthy green, and soft red, with occasional hints of blue, reminiscent of tropical fruits and sunlit gardens. Their matte finish gives them a natural, stone-like texture that complements the polished shine of the Ashanti brass bead.

Traditional Craftsmanship

The Krobo glass beads are crafted in Ghana’s Krobo region from recycled bottles and glassware. The glass is crushed into fine powder, placed into molds, and fired in a firewood kiln, producing beads with rich, organic color blends and subtle translucence.

The Ashanti brass beads are made in Kumasi using the ancient lost wax casting method. Each bead begins as a hand-sculpted wax model, which is then encased in clay. Molten brass replaces the wax during casting, and the mold is broken to reveal a bead that is truly one of a kind.

Cultural Significance

Krobo and Ashanti beads are part of a long tradition of African trade beads, valued for their beauty, symbolism, and role in cultural exchange. Wearing this necklace connects you to centuries of artistry and heritage from West Africa.
