Handmade Black & Clear African Waist Beads from Ghana

These exquisite Handmade African Waist Beads from Ghana feature a captivating mix of jet black faceted beads and translucent clear glass beads with a silver-lined core. The inner silver lining reflects light through the transparent exterior, giving the beads a radiant shimmer and elegant sparkle as they catch the light.

Crafted by skilled artisans, this Beaded Waist Jewelry is strung on strong, multi-threaded polyester for lasting durability. Safe for swimming and showering, these beads are both beautiful and functional.

  • Bead Size: 4 - 6 mm in diameter

    • Perfect for styling above clothing or adjusting to body changes.
    • See below: How to Measure Your Waist for Beads.

Choosing a Clasp Option

If you prefer to wear and remove your waist beads with ease, clasp styles are ideal. Both the screw and lobster clasps are elegant, practical, and secure.

How to Tie Your Waist Beads (Video timestamp: 1:38)

  1. Stand up straight.
  2. Wrap the strand around your bare waist (waistline, high hip, or hip, depending on where you want the beads to sit).
  3. Relax your stomach and leave a little room for breathing, sitting, and moving. The fit should be snug but not tight.
  4. Slide off any excess beads.
  5. Tie 2-3 firm knots.
  6. Trim the remaining thread, leaving about ¼" (7 mm).

Optional: Add a drop of nail glue or super glue to secure the knot.

Note: Always measure on bare skin unless you plan to wear the waist beads over clothing.

How to Measure Your Waist for Beads with Clasp

  1. Stand upright and use a soft measuring tape directly on your skin.
  2. Measure around your waist, high hip, or hips, wherever you want the waist beads to rest. (See model photo for guidance.)
  3. Relax your belly and leave a little room for movement.
  4. Make sure the tape is level, snug, and not too tight.
  5. Read and double-check your measurement.

Avoid using clothing sizes as a guide. They are not accurate for waist beads fitting.

The History and Significance of Waist Beads in Ghana and Africa

Waist Beads have long been worn by African women, especially in Ghana, to symbolize femininity, spirituality, and transition through life’s stages. From puberty to motherhood, they carry deep cultural meaning and ancestral power.

Today, they serve multiple purposes:

  • Weight Tracking: Naturally move with your body to indicate changes over time.
  • Body Shaping: Encourage core engagement and posture awareness.
  • Spiritual Waist Beads: Used in rituals, energy work, and manifestation practices.
  • Femininity: A sensual, private connection to your identity and womanhood.

Wearing Belly Beads or Hip Beads is more than fashion, it’s a celebration of self, history, and divine femininity.
